Professional Pet Sitter vs app or hobbyist sitter
Your pet deserves the best care possible! Here’s why hiring a professional pet sitter is the safest and most reliable choice:

Meet the Barnhouse team
Devan & John, Owners

Hello there! We are Devan & John, the owners of Barnhouse Pet Sitting, LLC. We are an experienced, young couple with a HUGE love for animals. Devan, a former EMT of 7 years, is now in nursing school, pursuing her BSN. John is an automotive technician with a special interest in German & luxury cars. We’re from Colorado and are keen on giving back to our community by caring for the most beloved family members - pets.We have ample experience with pet care and pet sitting; we have cared for birds, chickens, cats, dogs, ducks, fish, goats, horses, and llamas! From puppies to pets in their golden years, we have provided stress-free pet care to homeowners, making vacations a breeze. You can check out reviews below from our loyal clients. We are both insured as professional pet & house sitters and have significant experience with pets with medical issues. Furthermore, John is very skilled with our aviary friends and I am familiar with house maintenance and farm animals, so we will be very comfortable taking care of your home and above all, ensuring happy tails while you're away.
Stevie – Pet Sitter in Training

We’re so excited to welcome Stevie to the Barnhouse Pet Sitting team! As Devan’s mom and John’s mother-in-law, Stevie is the heart of where our family’s love for animals truly began. After over two decades as a paralegal and notary public, Stevie is stepping into a new phase of life, one that brings her even closer to what she loves most: animals. She’s already developed her own list of happy clients and has become our go-to chicken care specialist thanks to her experience raising her own backyard flock. With two dogs, a 17-year-old cat at home (who is thriving in his old age and still going strong!), and several beloved chickens, Stevie brings both personal experience and professional reliability to the Barnhouse family. Her clients know they can count on her for trustworthy, compassionate care and thoughtful attention to detail. When she’s not pet sitting, you’ll find Stevie walking her pups, snuggling her chickens, or sneaking off for her favorite treat, a Chai from Starbucks. We’re so lucky to have her on the team!

Reviews

"Pepper, Luke, and Winston recommend Barnhouse Pet Sitting with their whole doggie hearts and their Dads do as well. Even our stranger danger dog took to them immediately. We also have a great piece of mind when we leave them with Barnhouse." - Adam H."If you’re looking for someone extremely responsible and clean that’s eager to follow your instructions to a T, that would be Devon. This is the second time we use her services. She took care of our ducks, chickens, horses, cat and dogs. She also is the contact person for our Airbnb which is onsite and manages to do all of it. We return to a clean tidy home and happy animals. I highly recommend her!" - Gloria P."Devon does an awesome job of taking care of our pets. She is super reliable and always gives me updates on how the dogs and parrots are doing. I would highly recommend her for pet sitting." - Karen M."Devan recently watched Molly for us. Molly is a 4lb spoiled Yorkie and is very ‘people shy’ so we were a bit concerned how it would go. To make things easier on Molly, Devan came by and met Molly beforehand. We left for our 5 day trip and Devan was amazing with her! She was patient and persistent and by day 3, Molly was her best friend! Not only was Molly happy and well cared for but the house was clean and everything was great! I highly recommend Devan if you need a pet sitter!" - Vicky C."We were so pleased to have Devan look after our cat and our home while we went away to a family reunion for a week. Charles, our 16 year old feline and a notorious grouch, requires a daily insulin shot. Because he is a handful and because the shot must be given at the same time every day, we didn't feel we could count on our regular pet sitter to do it right. It was a load off my mind to know that Devan was there, freeing us to enjoy our trip. Charles, a drama cat if there ever was one, didn't make it easy for Devan to give him the shot, but with tenacity and patience, she managed, and over the course of the week, she became more adept. While I worried about Charles making it difficult for Devan, Devan worried about how Charles felt and went out of her way to make sure he wasn't traumatized. As if that weren't enough, when we returned home, not only was Charles happy and healthy, Devan had washed his bedding and all the rest of the towels and sheet's used during our time away. We're so grateful that Devan has freed us up to travel without worrying about Charles and we look forward to our next trip away." - Bill C."Devan did so good with my kitty, and he took to her immediately! She was very understanding and I really appreciate how accommodating she was." - Holly O."Devan made my two vacations this summer stress-free because I knew my dogs were well-cared for. She helped the dogs deal with the neighbor’s 4th of July fireworks by remaining calm herself and putting all her attention on the dogs. She texted me significant observations about the dogs along with photos each day so that I didn’t have to wonder how they were doing. She improvised well when the pill pockets ran out handling it herself instead of texting me about it. She left the house neat and tidy, and she kept all my flowers and veggies thriving outside with careful watering. I will definitely invite Devan into my home in the future. I highly recommend her as a dog and house sitter." - Kristi B."I absolutely recommend Devan for your pet sitting needs. She has stayed in my home with my dog multiple times now and I certainly will be using her in the future. Not only does she love your pet as if it were her own but she cares for your home as well." Brittany D."Devan was very responsive and communicates well on the well being of our dogs while we were away. We’re very happy with her service and would not hesitate to recommend her to any pet parents 🙂. She handled our husky and malamute well and took them to explore! The dogs were happy and well taken care." - Nia H."Devan did an excellent job. while responsible for Ona’s care, she did a good job communicating and went well beyond what was expected." - Daniel S."I had Devan watch my dog Boogie (a very energetic and demanding blue heeler) while I was away for a family memorial and I came back to a pristine house and a happy puppy! The house was even cleaner than the day I left. Will definitely be hiring her to watch Boogie next time I’m out of town!" - Tristan M."Devan was amazing! She advertised for house and small animal sitting. I reached out about her possibly farm sitting for us. She came over took a look around and said yes! Devan did such an amazing job communicating with us while we were on vacation. It was such a relief to know that our tribe of animals were being taken care of the way that we would have been taking care of them. Devan took care of two horses, two llamas, a sheep, three dogs, three cats and 50 chickens for reference. She also took care of our trash pick up coordination and when we had a power situation she worked with United Power to make sure things went smoothly. We will be using Devan whenever we go anywhere and will be telling all of our friends to use her as well!! Thank you so much Devan!!" - Heather & Michael G."I have known Devan for approximately 10 years, and in all that time, she has had many animals in her home. They have all been extremely well cared for and lived long, happy lives. Devan has a beautiful heart, and a fierce protective nature toward animals. She is honest and responsible, and she works extremely hard. I highly recommend Devan for any position where she would be responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of animals. I would trust her with my own beloved pets, and others can too." - Brenda G."Devan, Took care of my Kitter Kat while I was on a work trip for 2 weeks and she did amazingly. My little Kitter Kat was always happy to see her. Everything was well taken care of." - Natasha J."Devan has volunteered for our equine assisted therapy nonprofit since 2021. She is punctual and dependable and wonderful working with animals. I highly recommend Devan for any position and it’s always been a pleasure working with her." - Linda R.
