Meet the Barnhouse Team

The Hearts Behind the Care

When you entrust your beloved companion to our care, you're not just hiring a service – you're welcoming your pet into a family of passionate animal lovers who understand that pets are so much more than just animals. Each member of our team brings a lifetime of genuine affection and hands-on experience with creatures great and small.

We know that every tail wag, purr, and gentle nuzzle tells a story, and we're committed to ensuring your pet's story continues with the same love and attention they receive from you. Our caretakers don't just follow routines – they form real bonds with every animal in their care, treating each as if they were their own.

Because to us, caring for your pet isn't just our profession – it's our calling.

Ensuring happy tails while you’re away.

Devan & John - Precision, Leadership & Advanced Care | Owner & Co-Founder

We’re Devan & John, the owners of Barnhouse Pet Sitting, LLC, a professional pet sitting company built on trust, experience, and genuine care.

Devan is a new-graduate nurse and former EMT of 8 years, bringing strong medical awareness and safety-focused care to every sit. John is an automotive technician with a special interest in German and luxury vehicles and is especially skilled in aviary and exotic animals. We are CPPS (Certified Professional Pet Sitter) certified and committed to high standards of professional pet care.

While we primarily manage and support our sitter team, we personally provide care for a limited, pre-selected number of clients based on availability and care needs.

Together, we have hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, birds, poultry, fish, goats, horses, llamas, alpacas, and other farm animals, from puppies to seniors. Our goal is simple: to keep your pets safe, comfortable, and happy at home while you’re away.

Stevie – Calls the Shots & Throws the Ball | Manager & Lead Pet Sitter

We’re so excited to welcome Stevie to the Barnhouse Pet Sitting team! As Devan’s mom and John’s mother-in-law, Stevie is the heart of where our family’s love for animals truly began.

After over two decades as a paralegal and notary public, Stevie is stepping into a new phase of life, one that brings her even closer to what she loves most: animals. She’s already developed her own list of happy clients and has become our go-to chicken care specialist thanks to her experience raising her own backyard flock.

With two dogs, a 18-year-old cat at home (who is thriving in his old age and still going strong!), and several beloved chickens, Stevie brings both personal experience and professional reliability to the Barnhouse family. Her clients know they can count on her for trustworthy, compassionate care and thoughtful attention to detail.

When she’s not pet sitting, you’ll find Stevie walking her pups, snuggling her chickens, or sneaking off for her favorite treat, a Chai from Starbucks. We’re so lucky to have her on the team!

Sean – Secret Pet Whisperer | Lead Pet Sitter

Sean has a magical way with sassy pups and kitties, and he wins them over every time. Whether it is a shy cat hiding under the bed or a dog with a big personality, Sean connects with them like they have been lifelong friends.

Outside of pet care, Sean is a talented musician who loves to play guitar, write songs, and craft unique beverages. You can often find him in his studio working on what just might be the next big hit.

Sean’s love for animals runs deep, from caring for stray birds and cats as a child to loving our own 18-year-old kitty at home, alongside our family pups Luna (pictured), Willow, and Jaxon. With Sean, pets receive more than care; they receive friendship, patience, and genuine affection. When he is on the job, be prepared to receive funny pictures and lighthearted updates that will brighten your day.

For Overnight and 24-hour care, Sean teams up with Emma to be the best pet sitter duo and power couple around.

Emma – Secret Cat Whisperer | Lead Pet Sitter

From rescuing stray cats and dogs on her farm property to nursing them back to health, Emma’s compassion and patience shine through in every interaction. Every furry and feathered creature knows they are in safe hands when Emma walks into the room.

When she is not caring for our beloved clients, Emma is at home tending to her own fur family- two spirited Huskies and a rescue kitty.

Not to mention Emma is a true foodie at heart. She knows all the best local spots, from the perfect butcher to the sweetest dessert shop. If you need a recommendation, she is your go-to guide. And if that is not impressive enough, Emma can also fly small planes. Truly, what can’t she do?

Picture of Brea - Equine & Farm Caretaker

Bree - Lead Farm & Equine Caretaker | Not Afraid of Hooves or Attitude

Breanna (Bree), brings heart, grit, and real-life experience into every pet sit she takes on. As a breast cancer survivor, her journey has shaped her into someone deeply resilient, grounded, and incredibly compassionate, especially when it comes to animals who need patience, understanding, and a calm presence. Bree is a steady, supportive presence who is always willing to jump in and help, even when life throws a few tennis balls. She shows up, stays calm, and gets it done.

Horses have always been part of Bree’s life, thanks to her mom’s lifelong involvement in the equine world. That foundation grew into something even more meaningful when Bree rescued and cared for two horses of her own. Caring for horses has provided comfort, healing, and connection for Bree and her family. That experience is at the core of how Bree approaches farm care today: attentive, intuitive, and rooted in respect for each animal’s individual needs.

In addition to her hands-on equine experience, Bree has spent a lifetime caring for dogs and cats. She understands that pet care is not just about feeding schedules and potty breaks, it's about trust, routine, and showing up consistently for animals who rely on us. Outside of pet sitting, Bree is happiest outdoors. Whether she is camping, gardening, fishing, hiking, or mountain biking, she thrives in nature and carries that grounded energy into every home and property she cares for.

Kate - Calm Energy, Confident Care | Equine & Farm Caretaker

Kate is a true pet lover at heart and a dedicated caregiver to dogs, cats, and many farm animals, especially horses. She brings over 10 years of pet sitting experience to Barnhouse Pet Sitting, along with a deep understanding of what quality care truly looks like. What makes Kate especially unique is that she has been on both sides of the experience. As a former Barnhouse client turned sitter, she understands firsthand what pet owners expect and deserve. That perspective allows her to provide thoughtful, reliable, and compassionate care every step of the way.

While caring for her two cats at home, Kate also brings a strong background in marketing, paired with a high level of responsibility and attention to detail. Whether your dog needs a walk, your picky eater needs a little encouragement at mealtime, or you are looking for guidance and education in your pet’s routine, Kate is ready to step in with confidence and care. She is hands-on, proactive, and always willing to share helpful tips with pet parents. Outside of pet care, Kate enjoys exploring local small businesses, especially coffee shops, and connecting one-on-one with her community. We are so excited to have Kate as part of the Barnhouse team!

Amy - Adventure-Ready Care | Equine & Farm Caretaker

Amy brings energy, confidence, and a whole lot of real-world experience to Barnhouse Pet Sitting. As our dedicated dog walker, she knows how to keep dogs structured, exercised, and happy while giving pet parents peace of mind. Her background is anything but ordinary. Amy spent 8 years living in Asia as an underwater photographer and pet sitter, where she worked closely with stray animals and supported marine life conservation efforts. Safe to say, she can handle just about anything.

Amy grew up surrounded by animals of all kinds, including dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, and even snakes, giving her a strong understanding of different personalities, behaviors, and care needs. Not to mention she brings hands-on equine and farm experience. As the primary caregiver for her horse for five years, she developed a deep respect for the consistency, responsibility, and attention to detail that large animal care requires.

Coming from a family that shares her love for animals, Amy has helped care for many adopted pets over the years. That foundation shows in the way she approaches every sit and walk with patience, awareness, and genuine care. Having trusted sitters with her own pets while traveling, she understands exactly what pet parents need and expect.

Outside of Barnhouse, Amy enjoys outdoor activities, reading, and spending time with her two adopted cats from Thailand. We are so excited to have Amy as part of the Barnhouse Pet Sitting team.
